LOGO CONCEPT

During the creation of the UpKite logo, my focus was on infusing elements of fun and connectivity. I brainstormed playful imagery and activities, aiming to seamlessly integrate the initials 'U' and 'K' into the design. My goal was to craft a logo that not only represents the app's purpose but also embodies a vibrant and engaging spirit.

COLORS

Inspired by the vibrant hues of urban dawn or dusk and the energetic tones found in nature, I selected lively colors for the UpKite logo. These shades evoke excitement and new beginnings, capturing the app's dynamic spirit and positive vibe.

Product Planning and Research

DEFINING THE PROBLEM STATEMENT

The product aims to solve the challenge of simplifying and enhancing travelers' experiences by providing comprehensive guidance for accommodations, dining options, and attractions, ensuring access to the best deals in cities, and offering personalized recommendations based on user preferences within nearby locations.

So I reached out to individuals in my social circle who had recently visited or moved to a new place and country, and these were their primary concerns:

USER BASE

The user base would be a mix of professionals, adventurers, bloggers, frequent flyers, retirees, students, and study abroad participants. Each group has unique travel needs, from business convenience to student affordability, creating a diverse landscape of preferences and priorities within the app.

ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

During my user interviews for Upkite, patterns emerged in people's responses, prompting me to reconsider my questioning approach. I found that vague questions didn't yield the insights I needed. To address this, I honed in on specific problem areas linked to trip planning, documentation, and sharing. This significantly improved my conversations with potential users as I delved into their pre-, during-, and post-travel planning methods.

me
  • How long have/had you been to new city?
  • What language is mostly used in the country?
  • In short, what things were very important to take note of while visiting the country/place for the first time?
  • Did you had any troubles finding a place to stay? Please give a valid statement of problem in short.
  • For Travelling , what methods did you used on a regular basis?
  • Did you had any troubles regarding the daily transportation?
KEY FINDINGS AND RESULTS

The research for Upkite revealed that users struggled with organizing travel plans and documenting experiences efficiently. Existing apps lacked personalization, leading to frustration among users. Product Conceptualization & Ideation

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK: UPKITE - UNDERSTANDING, PRIORITIZING, DELIVERING

UpKite's development stemmed from a methodical approach, including empathy mapping to understand emotional and practical challenges, competitive analysis to identify gaps, and prioritization matrices to highlight crucial needs—navigation, service access, and social connections. User flow analysis pinpointed key pain points in information access and integration.
